You cannot stay where you are and go with God.
For you to do the will of God, you must adjust your life
to Him, His purposes and His ways.
Read Galatians 5:25

Walking

I received the above bit of wisdom and advice on an email I got last week.  I read the wisdom but did not immediately follow the advice and read the suggested scripture.
The quote itself was enough to get me thinking. I ceratainly want to go with God. If I want to do that the quote told me I had to adjust my life.  Adjustment is something all of us are good at in these times we live in. Especially working parents know all too well about adjusting their lives to  get everything done that needs to be done.

With rising prices on everything always it seems more hours are worked for bills to be paid.  Family time suffers in many homes, but in order to have a home for the family to live in, more and more time away from the family is necessary.  Most people have gotten used to adjusting and have managed to get all the necessities of life taken care of.
With Sunday being the only day many have off that is the day they choose to have free time and as a result omit God completely from the day that is set aside for HIm. More and more time is spent away from not only God's house, but God Himself.
 Poor God.

As I took a walk down the road the other day with each step I took forward I thought about the quote.  I cannot stay where I am if I want to go with God.... what does that mean to me? I don't believe the quote at all is referring to a physical place of being, at least not in my case, but a spiritual place I need to move beyond.  I recalled a time of constant change in my spiritual walk a few years ago. It was an exciting time of God stretching me to do more and more things that I never dreamed I would do.  I simply asked God to please use me and surprisingly to me, He did.  At the time I don't think I thoroughly understood the concept of "Ask and you shall receive."  So as I walked down that dirt road the other day I made another request to God.
"Move me."

Oh and the verse, I did finally take the time to sit down and read it .
In King James Galatians 5:25 is this...If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. In New International Version...Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.

And my favorite translation of this verse I found was in THE MESSAGE.
Since this is the kind of life we have chosen, the life of the Spirit, let us make sure that we do not just hold it as an idea in our heads or a sentiment in our hearts, but work out its implications in every detail of our lives.

Since I have chosen to live my life walking with Chirst in the Spirit I pray I don't think I can just hold an idea in my head or heart and stay in the same place spiritually for even a day.  May I work out and adjust every detail of my life to be in perfect rhythm with what God has for me, where He wants me to be walking every minute of every day for I truly want to go with God.
What about you?  Is it time for a life adjustment? God wants to move among us, but in order to do that we have to be wiling to move with Him; not just on Sunday, "His Day", but on every single day of our lives.
