Welcome Change
Today when I woke up to cooler weather (a welcome change) I realized Fall is just around the corner once again. I thought of all four seasons as I walked out my door and tried to pick one as my favorite. I thought of friends who say their favorite season is fall. I thought of others who prefer other seasons. I have heard people say they wish it would be like this year-round. Truth is they would probably quickly become dissatisfied being stuck in one season their entire life, even if it were their favorite. If it were Fall all year long sooner or later someone would start complaining about unending falling leaves. Sooner or later someone would wish the temperature were high enough to go swimming and some would want weather cold enough for snow. God planned it all out perfectly didn't He? Within the four seasons, there is something for everyone. To watch all the change He created happen all around us season after season and year after year, we know our God is a God of change.
Life in general, not just seasons, is an endless cycle of change. The changes that come to our lives during all seasons can be very joyful and pleasant to deal with, or very distressful and hurtful. How we handle these changes plays a major role in how we live our lives. Learning to be content in every situation, no matter how bad it may seem, brings peace of mind. Learning that nothing lasts forever pleasant or distressful, brings the ability to face each new day with hope. Learning to trust God and know that He is in control of every life every season brings about a more meaningful life. Knowing that in all ever-changing situations and seasons we can do all things through Christ makes life easier.
