Land of the Living

This morning at McDonald's I ate my pancakes as music played on the speakers overhead. I usually just tune out the unfamiliar tunes as I eat familiar food each morning. Today there was a welcome change.  Suddenly, as I opened up my second packet of maple syrup, I heard a familiar voice and familiar words.  Kris Allen, a Christian singer, sang one of his newer songs, "Live Like You're Dying."   The song plays a lot on all the Christian radio stations.  It was just very surprising to hear it being piped in at McDonald's amidst songs by Lady Gaga and Lil Wayne.

As I heard the song I thought of hearing the song played by a band at the worship event I attended in Alabama a few weeks ago. I thought of the 40,000 people who were there that Saturday.  I wondered how many of those people were now homeless because of last week's tornadoes.  I wondered how many of those people had been injured or even killed by.  I remember during the all day event there were several altar calls with hundreds responding to God's call.  Scott Dawson Ministries planned and prepared and worked for months for this Stadiumfest in Alabama  to all come together as it did on Saturday, April 2nd . I know God's hand was at work preparing hearts and lives for what was to come on Wednesday, April 27th in Alabama and in Mississippi.  I pray each who lost their life that day truly did live each day like they were dying, looking to Jesus the Author and Finisher of our faith and the Author of  our eternal salvation..

Hebrews 5: 7-9
7 During the days of Jesus' life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission.
8 Although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered
9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him

Even if you know the song and have heard it over and over, read the words below and heed their advice.   We should indeed  tell those we love that we love them every day.   Even more importantly we should tell others that no matter what storms they may face, Jesus loves them.  Make sure they know that He died so that we may live with Him forever.
As we walk through the land of the living we should live each moment for Christ, who loved us and gave Himself for us.

Live Like We're Dying Lyrics

Sometimes we fall down, can't get back up
We're hiding behind skin that's too tough
How come we don't say I love you enough
Till it's to late, it's not too late

Our hearts are hungry for a food that won't come
And we could make a feast from these crumbs
And we're all staring down the barrel of a gun
So if your life flashed before you,
What would you wish you would've done

Yeah, we gotta start
Looking at the hands of the time we've been given
If this is all we got and we gotta start thinking
If every second counts on a clock that's ticking
Gotta live like we're dying

We only got 86,400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or to throw it all away
We gotta tell them that we love them
While we got the chance to say
Gotta live like we're dying

And if your plane fell out of the skies
Who would you call with your last goodbye
Should be so careful who we live out our lives
So when we long for absolution,
There'll no one on the line, yeah

You never know a good thing till it's gone
You never see a crash till it's head on
Why do we think we're right when we're dead wrong
You never know a good thing till it's gone

Yeah, we gotta start
Looking at the hands of the time we've been given
If this is all we got and we gotta start thinking
If every second counts on a clock that's ticking
Gotta live like we're dying

We only got 86,400 seconds in a day to
Turn it all around or to throw it all away
We gotta tell them that we love them
While we got the chance to say
Gotta live like we're dying

Like we're dying, oh, like we're dying..
