Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I lift up my soul.
~Psalm 143:8

For My Soul

Easter has once again come and gone.  Many great Resurrection Day sermons were preached by pastors and received by parishioners.  Songs proclaiming that "Jesus is Alive!" echoed through sanctuaries.  There were passion plays and dramas depicting Christ carrying His cross that He was crucified on.  Angels rolled away 'stones' constructed of paper and plaster. 'Jesuses' of all shapes and sizes dressed in gleaming white robes lifted their arms and rose on cue.  Audiences cheered and most left church services today joyful and encouraged knowing Jesus is alive and there is hope.
At homes families gathered for Easter dinner.  Eggs were colored and hidden and most were found and some were eaten.  A lot of chocolate candy was consumed by all.  By the time the sunset most were ready to rest and reflect on another Resurrection Day now come gone.  As I picked up more plastic eggs and candy wrappers, I thought of all the Word I had heard today.  Three Easter messages, all different, yet all with the same theme.  There is hope for Jesus is alive forevermore.   No matter what major battle that may occur in my life, I know victory will come in the end through Christ who conquered death, hell, and the grave for all mankind.  And if I had been the only "mankind" around He would have still died on the cross for me.  Amazing!

There may be someone in this world who would be willing to die for you, exchange their life for your life, but there is no one on earth living or dead that can die so that your soul will live.  When you think about that, no matter how many times you have heard that Christ died for you, it is amazing to think He died not to save a mortal life, but for souls to live eternally.

May we remember God's unfailing love each morning when we rise and every evening as we rest. May we trust Him always and lift our souls up to Him that He died on the cross to save.

Today I challenge you to make each day a celebration of the Resurrection of Christ. The colored eggs and chocolate candy, of course, are optional, but praising and proclaiming that Jesus is alive should come every single day without thought.  He died for your soul! You are free from death, hell, and the grave forever!
