Freedom From My Pit
Facebook has an ever-changing face, doesn't it? As I look at status updates of friends it is amazing to see constant change in their lives. A new day brings new jobs for some, new places to live, new places to eat, new places to be, new babies in families, and of course new relationships. How often we see the little hearts posted that someone who was once single is now in a relationship and of course vice versa also. For those who have loved and supposedly lost, return their status to single and sometimes "it is complicated". It seems they unashamedly feel the need to let the world know. Relationships and life, in general, are truly complicated and sometimes confusing. But today other than change and complexity I want to focus on one thing that remains the same in our lives that can end all confusion. The world needs to know.
A friend of mine posted Psalm 40:1-3 for his status yesterday. On that status proceeding the verses, he wrote "my testimony." In Mike's life no matter how often his relationship status changes, no matter where he goes, where he eats, or where he works, the testimony of what God did for him that these verses speak of will never change. Yes, his testimony will grow and change throughout his life. Mike will be able to add something new and different that God has done for him every single day, but the day God brought him out of his horrible pit and put that glorious new song in his mouth for the first time will never change.
What about you? What was your pit? Do you remember that day like it was yesterday when God brought you out, set you free, and you began to sing His song for the very first time? When was the last time you remembered that day and thanked God for it? When was the last time you told someone else about that day in your life? Your pit may not be like someone else's. There are so many different hopeless places that people find themselves stuck in. People's slimy, miry, murky pits may differ, but the ROCK that is available to have feet set upon is the same for everyone!
Today remember there is someone who needs to know about what Jesus did for you on that day. Share your testimony of what your Savior did for you with someone who needs Him to be their Savior as well. He brought you out and set your feet upon the Rock. Do not be ashamed to let the world know. Sing loud. Many will see and trust the Lord.
And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world. ~ I John 4:14.
