Matthew 2: 1 Jesus was born in the town of Bethlehem in Judea, during the reign of King Herod. About that time some wise men  from eastern lands arrived in Jerusalem, asking, 2 "Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We have seen his star as it arose, and we have come to worship him."

Follow and Obey

The wise men came to Jerusalem in search of the King of the Jews. There they found King Herod who attempted to use their wisdom to lead him to the newborn king.  However, the wise men were wise and followed God's direction.  They did not go back and tell King Herod they had found King Jesus in Bethlehem.  God used a star to guide them directly to Jesus.  Why a star? God used a dream to direct them to leave a different way and not to go back and tell King Herod where they had found Him. Why a dream?  What if they had thought the star just happened to be in the sky and had not followed? What if they had thought the dream was "just a dream" and had not obeyed?  Obviously, the wise men were wise and knew God could use whatever means He wanted to show them the way they should go.  It was wise of them to always be observant, listening and looking for God's guidance in their everyday lives.

Today God still directs and guides men and women.  If we are wise we are observant - always looking and listening, seeking God in our everyday lives.  God is God and can use whatever means He chooses to show us the way we should go.  We have His Word.  We have prayer. We have His Holy Spirit which sometimes speaks through dreams and visions.  Best of all we have King Jesus who offers salvation and eternal life to all who seek Him. When we follow and obey God we are sure to find the way we should go.
